Site Details

A brief history

The site is currently being used as a warehouse and trucking facility. Prior to 1990, the property(s) were utilized as an industrial complex operated by various entities, primarily between approximately 1890 and 1978. Between 1978 and 1985 the Site was vacant but in 1985 McJunkin Corp. and AC Rose Leasing Company began operations up until approximately 1992. Historic industrial operations consisted of the manufacturing of rubber products such as tires, conveyor belts, and hoses. Additionally, Site operations also included the vulcanization of rubber (treating rubber with sulfur at high temperatures) and the lead coating of rubber hoses.

Proposed Remediation Plan

Past remediation efforts have been conducted including the excavation and removal of contaminated soils. Future remediation plans include chemical injections to degrade volatile organic compounds, light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) recovery, institutional controls, and engineering controls. Groundwater will be sampled periodically to assess the degradation of the residual petroleum hydrocarbon compounds.
